CONTRIBUTIONS

Countless Future aims at exploring the topics proposed by Countless Cities, the Biennial of the Cities of the World, hosted in Favara.

The topics presented are:

Housing Diversity

explores various types of individual and group living for people with different means and in different stages of their lives.

Good Business

researches all those jobs and trades, with a rediscovery of some manual professions, that are able to fuel passion, territoriality, and durability, with particular attention on the phenomenon of social entrepreneurship committed to finding innovative solutions that respond to social, environmental, economic and cultural challenges.

Parkifying the Future

investigates strategies for implementing educational processes to the plant world, re-building a new relationship between People and Plants and which promotes de-paving portions of the city, to improve the quality of life of citizens.

The Countless Cities exhibition will set the background of experiences and point of views from diverse realities on the topic of sustainable and green urbanization, access to job opportunities, and adequate housing.

The focus of the Campus directly intersects 4 SDGs:

8 - Decent work and economic growth

11 - Sustainable cities and communities

12 - Responsible consumption and production

13 - Climate action.

The three topics proposed for the Campus are addressing, directly and indirectly, the basic rights of every person in a city: the right to housing, to job opportunities, and to healthy and green urban areas. They are touching important assets to ensure safety, health and productive life for all. Starting from a bottom-up perspective the Campus aims at collecting and organize a wide spectrum of experiences from different parts of the planet to encourage the creation of innovative solutions to those challenges. It reinforces the principles established by the New Urban Agenda through the creation of collective actions ready to be implemented in different contexts.

Participate

The Campus will have a blended format. It will include online video contributions, an online roundtable, and in-person talks and community building activities, hosted both in Favara and around Monti Sicani. Countless Futures Urban Thinker Campus (September 9-12) is free for both speakers and participants.
